Referral Policy

Patients treated at Veterinary Emergency & Referral Group must be referred by their veterinarian. The patient will only be treated for the condition for which they were referred. No routine procedures will be performed and the patient will be referred back to their primary veterinarian for continued care upon discharge.

For EMERGENCIES, NO APPOINTMENT or REFERRAL is necessary, although owners are encouraged to call the hospital in advance to alert the staff. (718-522-9400). VERG is open 24/7, 365 days a year. 718-522-9400.

Your primary veterinarian will be kept advised of your pet's treatment during hospitalization.
Each services at our hospital directly responds to the referral of a case:
  • Written reports are faxed or mailed (depending upon availability) to the primary veterinarian when a patient is seen on an emergency basis.
  • Follow-up reports by phone and fax are sent during the course of extended treatment.
  • Written reports are mailed to the veterinarian at the completion of treatment.
